Daniel Reinholz, Effective and Equitable Teaching: IBL Teaching Podcast

It was my great pleasure to have a friendly conversation with Daniel Reinholz, San Diego State University. Daniel recently published Equitable and Engaging Mathematics Teaching: A Guide to Disrupting Hierarchies in the Classroom. It's an approachable, conversational style book that sets the stage about equity, hierarchies and leads readers to doable classroom methods or approaches that can help level the playing field in math classes.

Based on my experiences and professional opinion, a handful of key changes can make a big difference in participation in your classroom. It isn't the case that either you make massive changes or do nothing. There's a pathway to get better and better with reasonable sized steps. Change is doable.

In this video we cover topics including Discourses (Foucault) in Math, deconstructing stereotypes, steps we can take in our math classes, and disability justice. Enjoy!
